The Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway (RRC WR) has officially released employment notification RRC/WR/01/2026 (Sports Quota) for the recruitment of meritorious sportspersons into 64 regular posts under the 2026–27 sports quota intake. The vacancies comprise 21 Group 'C' posts (5 seats in Pay Level 5/4 and 16 seats in Pay Level 3/2) and 43 erstwhile Group 'D' posts (in Pay Level 1) across Western Railway. The online registration portal on rrc-wr.com is open from September 1, 2026 (10:00 AM) until September 30, 2026 (6:00 PM). The selection scheme does not include a written examination; instead, candidates are evaluated out of 100 marks based on mandatory field/sports skill performance trials (40 marks, minimum 25 required to qualify as "FIT"), verified sports achievements (50 marks), and educational qualifications (10 marks). The application fee is ₹500 for General and OBC candidates (₹400 refunded upon appearing for trials) and ₹250 for SC, ST, PwBD, Women, Minorities, and EBC candidates (fully refunded upon attending trials).
Eligibility
Eligibility requires candidates to satisfy strict age limits, educational qualifications, and active sports performance norms. The age of the candidate must be between 18 and 25 years as of January 1, 2027 (born between January 1, 2002, and January 1, 2009), with no age relaxations granted to any reserved categories under sports quota rules. Educationally, applicants for Level 5/4 must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university; for Level 3/2, candidates must have passed Class 12 (+2 stage) or possess Class 10 with an ITI/NCVT certificate or completed Act Apprenticeship; and for Level 1, candidates require a minimum of a Class 10 pass, ITI, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC). In addition, candidates must be active athletes with certified sports achievements secured in recognized national or international championships/tournaments organized by recognized sports federations or the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) strictly held between April 1, 2024, and August 27, 2026 (such as representing India in World Championships, Commonwealth/Asian Games, or securing top-3 finishes in Senior National/All India Inter-University Championships depending on the pay level applied for).
